Estrella de Puebla Ferris Wheel | What To See And Do In Puebla City

Puebla City Mexico

La Estrella de Puebla is a Ferris wheel for people to climb on and admire the scenery, especially the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes.

La Estrella de Puebla was built as an initiative of Governor Rafael Moreno Valle on the occasion of the commemoration of the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Puebla.

It is an R80XL model wheel of the German brand Maurer German Wheels GmbH with a height of 80 meters and 54 gondolas with a capacity for eight people each.

In one hour the wheel can go around three times, allowing a panoramic view of Puebla from different angles.

Initially it was proposed to place the Star of Puebla in the Historic Center of the city. However, the National Institute of Anthropology and History prevented this from happening in order to protect the historical heritage. Therefore, the wheel was placed in its current location, a property within the commercial area of Angelópolis.

La Estrella de Puebla was finally inaugurated on July 22, 2013.

It holds the title of the world's largest portable observation wheel in the Guinness World Record; it is important not to confuse the title with that of the world's largest fixed observation wheel whose title is held by the 164-meter-high Singapore Flyer.

If desired, the Estrella de Puebla can be disassembled and transported to another location.
